Bahamian media personality Jerome Sawyer and former beauty queen, socialite/activist Leslia Miller-Brice are back on board as hosts of the Miss World Bahamas pageant, to be held at the Baha Mar Convention Center in Nassau Bahamas on July 30. They will be joined by social media commentators, popular radio talk show host Shenique Miller and youth activist and motivational speaker K. Darron Turnquest. Also joining the show as a backstage correspondent is international pageant host and blogger Hector Joaquin Colon Gonzalez. Award winning musical artists Patrice Murrell, Val "Shugar" Richards and Chase Fernander will perform.
The Miss World Bahamas prize package includes: a year long salary as brand ambassador for TIG Foundation, a designer wardrobe, personal services included a year's membership at Club One Fitness Center, hair and makeup services, dental services, professional representation by the Miss Bahamas Organization, extensive travel representing sponsors and charitable partners, access to various top tier events.

Jerome Sawyer is the Chief Executive Officer at J. Sawyer and Associates; an Image & Media Management Company offering a full range of services designed to enhance, restore and create individual & corporate images. The company offers consultations in communications strategies designed to bring maximum media exposure to a product, service, company or individual.
Prior to this, Jerome functioned as the director of the Public Relations Department at the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC). During his 3 years there, he was responsible for internal and external communications, and corporate socially responsible community activities.
Mr. Sawyer is a former Vice President of News and Current Affairs and lead anchor at the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas. He is the former News Director and lead anchor for the Island FM Evening News, as well as former Producer, News Director and Anchor for NEWSBREAK, a thrice daily news programme on Cable 12. Mr. Sawyer is a two-time CNN Award winner. The only journalist in The Bahamas to ever accomplish this feat, his submissions won “The Best Political Story of 1998” and “The Best News Story of 2001”. Throughout his career, he has traveled around the world covering events around the Caribbean, North America, Europe and the Middle East. His considerable skills are recognized internationally as he serves as a correspondent for CNN, the BBC, the Caribbean News Agency and the Caribbean Broadcasting Union. In addition to journalism, he has a keen interest in pageantry and serves as the Miss Bahamas Organization’s Vice President, Corporate Sponsorship and Media Relations.
HOST - Leslia Miller Brice
Pageantry has always been a passion for Leslia Miller from a young age. After graduating from St. Augustine’s College, she continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University as a member of the University’s Track and Field Team, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Pre-Physical Therapy. Her years of pageantry have aﬀorded her the opportunity to travel to many countries as an ambassador for The Bahamas. Competing in the Miss Bahamas, Miss Caribe Hibiscus, Miss Black and Gold, Miss Bahamas Universe, Miss European Union, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Commonwealth International, and Miss Asia Paciﬁc Pageants has allowed her to see and experience the culture of many countries around the world. She is also a fashion model who has been featured in international magazines such as Panache, Essence and Caribbean Beat wearing the designs of local Bahamian Designer, Lisa Humes. Leslia is married to Leander Brice and the couple has three children.
SOCIAL MEDIA CORRESPONDENT - K. Darron Turnquest
K. Darron Turnquest is a Bahamian native celebrated for his distinct ability to inspire, motivate, cultivate and drive the change process. As an accomplished counseling psychologist, public speaker, youth development specialist and corporate trainer, he has proven his ability to galvanize individuals, communities, institutions, and organizations to be the “change we want to see.”
Darron works diligently to advance the status of youth in The Bahamas, serving as a corporate trainer and coach to many major companies throughout the country, utilizing his ability to provide immense passion and no shortage of quality in the various roles he holds. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at The College of The Bahamas, and as the Clinical Director for Key Potential Counseling, he also has the role as the Chairman of the CARICOM Secretariat Technical Resource Network on Youth Affairs. He is the youngest person to serve as a Director of Youth within the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, where he is still blazing trails, and making great strides in his position as the National Co-Chair for Volunteer Bahamas. His passionate service to his country lives on in both his work and in the lives of those he impacts daily, and for that the story is still being written for this dynamic and charismatic young Bahamian leader.

From pageantry to the movies, the famous beauty pageant expert embarks on a new project, this time as an actor in the movie " El lugar más feliz del mundo " (translate: The happiest place on earth) of Costa Rican producer, Soley Bernal.
PERFORMER - Patrice Murrell
On a mission to inspire all Bahamians to go after their dreams, Patrice Murrell blazed onto the local music scene with chart-topping hits which have solidified her as one of the hottest recording artists and entertainers to emerge from The Bahamas. Although she has years of world-class performances under her belt, Patrice only recently entered the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Music Masters competition, where two of her songs claimed top prizes. Those songs - Come 2 Wave and Your Ting - are a fusion of soca, electronic dance music and indigenous Junkanoo and rake n' scrape, and are on high rotation among local DJs and radio stations. A captivating performer, Patrice is known for her powerful vocals and engaging stage presence. She describes her music as fun, sexy, and liberating; all which celebrate the Bahamian spirit.
During her career Patrice has graced the stage with legendary acts and music icons including Michael Jackson, Bryan McKnight, Donnie McClurklin, and Bebe and Cece Winans. She has performed throughout the Caribbean, the United States and Europe. Patrice is also a model and actress, having graced national print and broadcast ads for Sol Petroleum Bahamas, The Brickell Managment Group and RBC/FINCO.
PERFORMER - Chase Fernander
Chase grew a strong love for music at a young age, having both a father and two uncles in a local rock band. Her fascination with music led her to begin playing instruments herself, including the keyboard, bass guitar and the drums. She soon discovered a love for writing and performing her own songs. Winning an impromptu rap “battle” with a school friend marked the beginning of her journey towards becoming a “REAL artist”. After putting in quite a bit of work, she started to be noticed and her talent gained her the attentions of local rap group "Gutta Movement", without whom she says there would be no Chase Fernander. Chase has performed for the likes of Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Juelz Santana, and Kanye West, and has opened for Rick Ross, DJ Khaled & Gyptian among others. She recently released her full length debut project Necessary which she hopes will set the pace for great things and act as her introduction to the world.
PERFORMER - Valerie Richards AKA Shugar
Valerie Richards AKA Shugar, is a singer/songwriter who grew up on the island of Great Harbour Cay. She has written such songs as: New Key, Don't wanna go home, No money, Crabfest, Do right in, Dreaming, Bahamas Carnival, Carnival Madness, Rum and her latest Music Master's winning song of 2017, Carryin on bad. She is also the lead singer of one of Nassau's top bands, the legendary Soulful Groovers.
By day, Shugar has a career in nursing, where she specializes in burns and wound care. At night she lights up the stage with entertainment. She is married with three children, enjoys meeting people, dancing, entertaining and being nana to her three beautiful grand babies.
